Avionics Engineering Analyst 

DLS Engineering Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a potential opening as a full-time Avionics Engineering Analyst for the Medium Range Surveillance (MRS) Product Line to provide technical support for the HC-144 program at the US Coast Guard (CG) base in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
 
Duties will include, but are not limited to: 
  • Serve as the contractor expert on avionics and electrical engineering issues. The HC-144A aircraft systems include the aircraft, its major sensors and the removable Mission System Pallet and all of its components. 
  • Provide engineering solutions for Coast Guard unique systems, including project management assistance and oversight of avionics and electrical upgrades and modifications. This tasking may include determining appropriate maintenance procedures for avionics and electrical systems to include procurement of appropriate test and calibration equipment. The emphasis is on improving safety, supportability, and operational effectiveness of the HC-144A.
  • Conduct research on databases (CG ALMIS, ATIMS and other government information systems), the internet, technical manuals, and engineering drawings to extract technical information and data. 
  • Make contacts via telephone, e-mail, or in person for potential sources of aircraft equipment, support equipment, and technical data in the support of the HC-144 program and to verify serial numbers and part numbers of components, software, or firmware.
  • Conduct review and analysis of extracted technical information and data and provide a report to include recommendations in the support of the HC-144 program. Assist in development of prototyping equipment, testing/evaluation, and reports leading to certification of such equipment.
  • Assist in maintenance of Coast Guard records used to manage the HC-144 integrated logistics support program.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of Maintenance Procedure Cards, Technical Manuals, and other technical data, including message and regular TCTOs.
  • Responsible for management of data related to configuration of hardware or software items, documentation of HC-144 program status by photographing events and items of interest, and other assigned tasks to support the acquisition of the HC-144A or the development of its support.
Qualifications:
·         Minimum 10 years engaged in direct maintenance and support of aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
·         Minimum 5 years avionics program supervision.
·         Minimum 1 year experience in CG procedures is required to include CG aeronautical engineering maintenance practices as defined in Commandant Instruction Manual CIM 13020.1 (series) using ACMS, ALMIS, and AMMIS.
·         Working knowledge of CG aviation field units will be considered favorable.
·         Proficient in written and oral communications.
·         Must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident.
